Tuesday, 22 May 2012 16:33

Herbert Frese, newly elected JJEU President, congratulated Dario Quenza, President of Italian Ju-jitsu Association, together with Panagiotis Theodlolopulous, JJIF President.Genoa, Italy. May 10 - 13, 2012. After 11 years, the European Championship was back in Genoa. On the second weekend in May, aspirants and juniors met at this tried and tested location to compete in the categories Duo and Fighting. The organizers of the Italian Ju-Jitsu Association (Associazione Italiana Ju-Jitsu) outdid themselves. The competitors and their attendants were accommodated in several hotels all over the city. The Sheraton Hotel was the official hotel of the event, where the general assembly and the drawings took place, and where the participants met for the formal dinner and the after-championship party. The pick-up service between hotels and hall was well-organized, and the entire programme went over smoothly. Volunteers had prepared five squares of mats in 105 Stadium. Paramedics on site took care of the athletes, and a bunch of volunteers saw to it that the guests from 17 countries were comfortable, and was happy to fulfil any special request. Not an easy job, but the Italian association under the direction of president Dario Quenza rose to the challenge and can be proud of this roaring success.

JJEU General Assembly elections and Agenda PDF Print E-mail

genoa_2012Changing of the Statutes and Elections of the BoardFollowing the JJIF Board recommendation from October 2011 and paragraph 9 of JJIF Statutes, also the fact that JJEU Board has lost a President, the JJEU General Assembly 2012 in Genoa is the electoral for the whole Board.

JJEU Board is therefore proposing a change of paragraph and of JJEU Statutes which shorten the existing mandate of the existing Board.

To the paragraph 6.1 is added additional text in the new article 6.1.4:

“To harmonize the mandates and electoral processes with the JJIF Statute JJEU General Assembly 2012 is electoral for the whole JJEU Board. JJEU Board remain of four persons: President, Vice President, General Secretary, Treasurer.

Electoral procedures for 2012 electoral GA are following JJIF Statutes.

Up to the next JJEU General Assembly new JJEU Board will prepare and file to JJIF Board for approval the new JJEU Statutes, harmonized with the new JJIF one as indicated in the 12.2 JJIF Statutes”.

Explanation: as JJEU Board lost the President Christian Blareau in 2012 GA we should regularly have electoral congress for the position of the President. Above all JJIF Statutes regulates the mandated of the continental unions also as to the Summer Olympic Games. To avid mid-term mandates and to harmonize mandate with the JJIF activities JJIF Board recommended to JJEU Board to prepare elections for the whole JJEU Board in GA Genoa.

JJEU Board ELECTIONS in Genoa - deadline for candidature is March 10, 2012

As indicated in the JJIF Board Minutes of January 2012 and already published in this site, this year is an election year, both at the level of the Continental Unions, and at the level of the JJIF. According to the Statutes, the JJEU Elections General Assembly will be held on the day prior to the European Championship in Genoa (May 10, 2012). Also according to the Statues, the candidates for the positions in the Continental Union/JJIF Boards must submit their candidacies at least 3 months before the day of the elections. This would mean that the deadline for candidacies for JJEU Board was February 10, 2012.

However, due to multiple issues, such as the low number of working members on the JJEU Board, communication problems, e-mail/Internet issues, the deadline for the JJEU Board elections has passed before the JJEU Board/General Secretary had a chance to send out to the countries the Invitation for the Elections General Assembly.

Because of this situation, the JJEU and JJIF Board are sending out this appeal to the JJEU member countries to remember that elections will be held on May 10, 2012, for all positions on the Board. The deadline for submitting the candidacies has been reduced in this exceptional situation (and due to prepared changes of JJEU Statutes) to March 10, 2012.
